Description: According to Gartner, by the end of 2012, organizations that fully document their search processes in e-discovery will save 25% on their collection processes.
As email has now become the default method of communication, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) now requires our Federal, Local and State government to keep a record of their emails for discovery. As per this act if an authorized personnel, requests a copy of the emails they have to be produced and delivered within 5 business days. Any delays in getting the necessary information can result in huge fines. Ironically, even though the government has the most stringent requirements, the adoption rates to implement ediscovery are still extremely low.
Some of the reasons: scarce budgets, limited training time and disparate email platforms.
